Nancy Mae Bassett, 71, passed away peacefully from natural causes on April 15, 2026. Born on June 15, 1954, in Waterbury, Connecticut, she was the daughter of Harry Bassett and Dorothy McCallister.
Nancy lived a life defined by service, compassion, and quiet strength. She proudly served her country as a member of the United States Army, working as an intelligence analyst for three years. Following her military service, she dedicated many years to caring for others as a Licensed Practical Nurse, with a special focus on elder care. Her work with patients living with Alzheimer’s and dementia reflected not only her professional skill but her deep empathy and patience.
She found joy in life’s simple and creative pursuits. Nancy loved cooking and had a passion for traditional folk crafts, including weaving, basketry, and pottery. She also carried a spirit of adventure and curiosity, with a lasting interest in homesteading and self-sufficient living.
